You can be allowed to think that the concept of “flow” is cooked and popular Yoga teacher. The words get a lot of fun when a person is moving Downward-facing dog Through one and two warriors.
In fact, flow – a state of “easy effort” – was created by GoetheA spectacular ecstasy from the German “Rausch.”
Friedrichnitzsche and the psychologist William James Both thought deeply about the flow state, but social theorist Miharry csikszentmihalyi Creativity: Flow, Discovery and Inventional Psychologya true giant of the field. This is one of his definitions of flow:
It is entirely involved in the activity for itself. The ego will fall. Time flies. All actions, movements, and thoughts necessarily follow from the previous one, like playing jazz. Your whole being is involved and you are using your skills to the fullest.
author Stephen KotlerExecutive Director of Flow Research CollectiveNot only does he seem to spend a lot of time thinking about flow, but as a leading expert in human performance, he lives in the nation quite regularly.
Do you wish for good luck?
Good genes? (Some researchers, including retired NIH geneticists Dean Hammer and psychologist C. Robert CroningerI think genetics plays a role…)
As Kotler points out above, anyone can hedge their bets by removing distractions – all the normal bad guys that hinder sleep, performance, or productivity.
It’s also important to know yourself. Kotler is a quick bird Cracks well before sunrise:
Not only do you open your eyes at 4am, but you also try to go from bed to your desk before your brain is kicked out of alpha wave state. I don’t check emails. I turn everything off at the end of the day, like unplugging my phone or something. The next morning, no one jumps into my inbox or attacks me emotionally with anything.
In contrast, his night owl wife does not begin to clean up the spider webs until the evening.
In the video above of Big Think, Kotler points out that 22 flow triggers have been discovered, as well as preconditions that are attracting attention at the present moment.
His website lists many of these triggers.
- Complete concentration of the present
- Immediate feedback
- Clear goals
- Challenge skill ratio (In other words, the challenge should look a bit out of reach
- High results
- Deeply concrete
- A rich environment
- Creativity (Specifically, pattern recognition or linking new ideas)
Kotler also shares psychologists at the University of North Carolina Keith SawyerTrigger list for groups that want to flow like an oiled machine:
- Shared goals
- Close Listening
- “yes,” (Additional rather than a fighting conversation)
- Complete concentration (I’m focusing on this now)
- A sense of control (I feel that each member of the group is in control, but still)
- Ego blend (Each person can sink their ego needs into a group)
- Equal participation (Skill level is rough and everyone is involved.)
- Engagement (People know each other and understand their tics and trends)
- Continuous communication (Instant feedback group version)
- Sharing, group risk
People in a state of flow may think that they are floating around in their faces with the expression of ec-like bliss. According to Kotler, that’s not the case. Rather, they tend to frown slightly. Good news for everyone Resting bitch face!
(Thank you for calling this the face of the rest flowing state from here.)
