Barangay Ginebra’s massive victory over TNT on Sunday meant that the Ginkles, chasing the remaining three slots, own their fate, to gain a double advantage in the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals.
Ginebra must rain and shine on Father’s Day at the Inares Center in Antiporocity to secure a top-4 finish and give him a better route in the second stage of the Championship Quest.
“There were some mitigation instances and circumstances where we could get a game like this,” said Zin Kings manager Tim Corn, who said the scoreline is barely similar to expectations between rival teams they met in the last two finals after a 97-78 victory at Ninoiaquino Stadium.
The 13-0 start, coupled with the ejection of TNT Center Brandon Ganulas Losser to extend the Troy Rosary to the elbow during a rebound battle, will adapt to Jordan’s headline.
This was a second straight win, with four of the last five players at Ginebra, leading Magnolia to third place, 7-3, and only followed NLEX with San Miguel Beer in San Miguel Beer, 8-2 record and 7-2. Nlex has already secured a beat bonus from two beats.
“At this point in the meeting, when you’re fighting that top four spots, we’ll get every benefit we can get,” Kohn said of Ganulas Rosser’s emissions and the first appearance of the headline.
Loss ended TNT’s six-game winning streak. This was tied to rain and sparkle 6-4 as it rained and shone 6-4, beating Magnolia on two chances at Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Friday.
Hotshots don’t want to fall outside the top four after the great start they had, so this incentive is now more important for both Magnolia and TNT. Meanwhile, Tropang 5G is aiming for a historic Grand Slam.
“Ginebra played really well, defensively,” Tropang 5G Big Man Poy Erram said in Filipino. “It’s difficult when you can’t shoot and can’t defend. So in the next game, you’ll need to check whether the attack is clicked or there is no defense.” inq
