Man United head coach Reuben Amorim will walk the pitch at the end of an English Premier League soccer match between Manchester United and West Ham at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester, England on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
MANSHETER, England — Reuben Amorim said he was “embarrassing” after Man United lost again in the Premier League on Sunday.
Man United scored their 17th loss in Hyundai after a 2-0 home loss to West Ham, finishing 16th in the 20-team division.

Amorim has already said this could be the worst team in the club’s history.
The United head coach said he felt even more “embarrassing” on Sunday, saying it was “hard to embrace” the team’s disastrous domestic campaign.
“It’s my fault. I’m responsible. If we can’t really change it quickly, we should raise questions about our future and give our various people a place,” he said.
United have had more defeats than any campaign this season since the Premier League began in 1992. The 20-time joint record English champion is also sure to score the worst points in that period, and also have a minimum finish.
“We need to be more aggressive. When we’re not winning the game, we need to feel that’s the end of the world,” said Amorim, who was hired to replace former manager Erik Ten Hag in November last year. “We’re not afraid to lose the game as Manchester United. We don’t have that fear anymore. That’s the most dangerous thing a big club can have. I think it’s a concern.”

Despite a historically bad league campaign, United could save the season by winning the Europa League later this month.
However, Amorim believes that the upcoming final against Tottenham may have been involved in his latest defeat at Old Trafford.
“Everyone is focused on the finals. The Finals are not the biggest of our football club,” he said. “We need to change a lot. We shouldn’t play in the Champions League unless we change the way we play, play and feel this urgency of winning every game.”
Amorim was hired after winning two Portuguese league titles in Sports Lisbon. However, he was unable to turn United’s fortunes around.

Ten Hag was fired despite winning the trophy in his first two years at Old Trafford, despite winning the 2023 English League Cup and the 2024 FA Cup.
He also directed United’s worst season in 34 years in the previous term. They set a new high on the league’s losses with 14 losses and a lowest finish in eighth place.
The total total in the Premier League was 58 for the 2021-22 season.
With two rounds, the most accumulated this year is 45.
