Markle recalled the moment she met her dog, whom she calls Guy, in 2015. He was in a slaughter facility in Kentucky and given only days to live.
“I pounced on him…and fell in love,” she wrote. “They called him ‘Little Man’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy’ and he was the best guy a girl could ask for. ”

“As many of you will see Guy in this new series, I hope you can understand why I am so devastated by his loss,” Markle explained. “I think you’ll fall in love a little too.”
In her personal tribute to Guy, Markle also took time to talk about the “terrible accident” her dog had suffered before moving to the UK. For several months, Guy had to undergo surgery and recuperate away from home.
“Doctors said he would never walk again, but Dr. noel fitzpatrick He said he could do it,” she wrote. “H and I drove hours later and late into the night to see Guy, who had been recuperating in Surrey for months. We will always be grateful to our veterinary team, our current veterinarians, and our friends and community. Thank you for loving him.”
In her final message to her followers, Markle urged pet lovers to consider adopting instead of shopping the next time they’re looking for a furry friend. She also went on to express her gratitude for all the happy memories she shared with Guy.
“Thank you for all the years of unconditional love, my sweetie,” she wrote. “You filled my life in ways you’ll never know ❤️🩹 #adoptdontshop.”
