Kenyon Alston plays his college football as things stand now Illinois.
Orlando (Fla.) Moore’s outstanding wide receiver bishop has been committed to the program since January and has returned to Champaign for an official visit over the weekend.
Just before the trip, Wolverine was working on turning the state’s roots and rising seniors over the years, making an official visit with Michigan happening next weekend.
That trip is no longer taken.
“I canceled it,” Alston told his rivals. “I’m focusing on training and preparing for my final high school season.
“I’m trapped in illness.”
Naturally, the weekend may have been what he and his family wanted, as well as his fellow commitments and company.
“It was a Tuesday the weekend,” Alston said. “We really enjoyed it, and the best part was meeting other commits and wandering around, and it was cool to talk to older players.
“Brotherly love is real.”
Among his commitments to return to town was Orlando native and future Illinois quarterback Michael Clayton. The duo spent quite a bit of time in the sunshine.
Over 30 programs have jumped in with offers to Alston up to this point in his recruitment, but there is comfort in putting that part of the process together before the final prep campaign.
“It was a blessing to have the opportunity to play for so many good programs,” he said. “I’m really pleased with the decision to be locked up in Illinois and I’m happy that the recruitment has ended.”
The big, physical wide receiver is the best leader in BMHS history in career and single season receiving yards, and has received a touchdown.
