US EmploymentAhead of Friday’s government data, the ADP employment report for July will be released this morning, providing an outlook for the labor market. Private payrolls are expected to increase by 145,000, up from 122,000 in June. Also, new claims for unemployment benefits are forecast to fall to 230,000 in the week ending August 31, down from 231,000 the week before.
ISM Services: Economists expect U.S. services sector activity to remain in expansion territory, with the reading at 51.1 in August, up from 51.4 in July. A reading below 50 indicates a contraction.
BroadcomInvestors will be interested to see whether the chipmaker has made any progress in its talks with OpenAI about developing new chips when the semiconductor design company reports third-quarter results after the market closes. The Palo Alto-based company is expected to post revenue of $13 billion, up 46% from the same period a year ago.
