During the RCB victory celebrations, the Karnataka Cabinet took several disciplinary action and legal action as 11 people, including the 14-year-old, were killed and 50 injured in the wake of the Stampede incident in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
The government immediately stopped police inspectors from the Cubbon Park Police Station, the local Deputy Director of Police (ACP), the Central Deputy Chief of Police (DCP), the additional police chief responsible for the stadium and the Bengaluru Police Chief.
Speaking to the media at a press conference after Thursday’s emergency cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Siddharamaiah said a committee was formed under the guidance of retired High Court Justice Michael Kuna. Legal measures have also been launched against representatives of three entities: the RCB, Event Organizer DNA and the Karnataka Cricket Association (KSCA). An FIR is registered and instructions have been issued to arrest the person responsible.
Statistical deliberations have begun in which the Vice-Chair of the Bengaluru City District have been appointed as referral officer, and according to Prime Minister Siddaramaiah, who posted the latest information on X, who posted the order issued yesterday, the report is expected within 15 days.
Today, the BJP criticized the state government and called for the resignation of Prime Minister Siddharamaiah and Deputy Prime Minister CM DK Shivakumar. Vijayendra’s BJP President Karnataka called the celebration “inhuman” and put the state government fully responsible for the tragedy. “The lack of expectations for people is their acceptance of failure. The CM tried to escape accountability by saying that Stampede only happened at Chinnaswamy Stadium,” he said.
Meanwhile, the RCB announced £10 each compensation on Thursday to the deceased’s family. The franchise also established a fund called “RCB Cares” to support fans injured in the incident. The Karnataka government had already announced £10 compensation and was committed to taking full medical costs for the injured.
