Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the second Test against India in Adelaide, with Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett called up.
Hazlewood has a “minor left flank injury” but will remain with the team to prepare for the remaining five games.
The 33-year-old took five wickets in the first Test in Perth, including four for four in the first innings, as Australia lost by 295 runs in four days.
Scott Boland was the backup seamer in his original team and is most likely to replace Hazlewood for the day/night game at Adelaide Oval from December 6.
Abbott has played 46 white-ball matches for Australia (26 one-day internationals and 20 T20 internationals) but is yet to play a Test, while Doggett is yet to cap his cap at international level. .
Abbott took 261 first-class wickets in 87 matches, while Doggett claimed 142 in 40 matches.
Australia had already brought in all-rounder Beau Webster as injury cover for Mitchell Marsh after he hurt himself bowling 17 overs in the first Test.
