‘All-weather’ allies Pakistan and China vow to further deepen ties and renew commitment to CPEC 2.0 development

Pakistan and China will further deepen their “all-weather strategic” partnership, including commitment to “quality development” of the second phase of the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Partnership, according to media reports on Saturday. He reiterated his commitment to . According to Geo News, the development was revealed during the fourth session of Pakistan-China Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) held in Beijing on Friday.

Foreign Minister Amna Baloch led the Pakistani delegation, while Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong led the Chinese side.

The meeting reviewed the full scope of practical cooperation between the two countries, with a focus on projects to promote quality development of CPEC 2.0.

According to the official press release, “The two sides will further deepen their mutual partnership in areas such as information technology, agriculture, and clean energy, based on the concept of win-win cooperation and pursuit of people-centered and inclusive development.” We agreed.”

The meeting recognized CPEC’s vital role in promoting regional connectivity and common prosperity, including through partnerships with other countries.


CPEC, which connects Gwadar port in Pakistan’s Balochistan province with China’s Xinjiang province, is the flagship project of China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The Belt and Road Initiative is seen as an attempt by China to further strengthen its influence abroad through infrastructure projects around the world funded by Chinese investment. According to the report, the foreign minister said during the meeting that CPEC is the cornerstone of economic cooperation and a “shining symbol” of the enduring friendship between the two countries. The Chinese Vice Foreign Minister said that five new corridors introduced under CPEC 2.0, namely Growth, Livelihood, Innovation, Open and Green Corridor, and five E’s, namely Export, Electronic Pakistan and Energy-centered Pakistan, have been introduced under CPEC 2.0. He emphasized the mutually reinforcing relationship with national development frameworks. , Environment and Equity.

During the meeting, Baloch described Pakistan-China relations as “special” and “unique” and noted that the Pakistani government and people deeply cherish the enduring friendship between the two countries.

Islamabad and the Chinese government also emphasized the need to strengthen mutual cooperation at multilateral forums, including the United Nations Security Council, the statement added.

According to the report, the foreign minister also met with Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu and exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common interest.
